FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

CAN WE MEET THE PARENTS?

YES.  We encourage all of our prospective buyers to come meet the parents.  We do not go outside of our own dogs for breeding purposes, so all of our moms and dads are on site for you to see.  With an in person visit you can view their characteristics, energy, temperaments and skills.  They are all raised and trained in our home and do not stay in typical breeder kennels.

HAS HEALTH TESTING BEEN DONE ON THE PARENTS?

YES.  All of our dogs are annually vet checked in addition to EYE and OFA (hips and elbows) testing.  They are current on vaccinations but also receive appropriate health care when/if needed.  They also have their DNA testing to confirm their bloodlines and pedigrees.  All tests are performed in accordance with the American Kennel Club, and the Labrador Retriever Club requirements.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN BREEDING LABRADORS?

6 YEARS.  We have been lifetime owners of Labrador retrievers and usually several at the same time.  We started breeding with just a couple of our labs in 2016 and it has been the best experience ever.  We specialize in the Labradors, instead of several different breeds, helping us master knowing the strengths and weaknesses, genetics and all the things related to the Labrador.   We have learned allot through talking with people, and also with formal classroom and online education.  We are members of several breeders organizations, as well as several competition clubs.

HOW DO YOU SOCIALIZE YOUR PUPPIES?

We spend extensive time pre-training the pups; starting with imprinting, ENS (Early Neurological Stimulation), many exposures, foundations, basic commands, potty training and name recognition.  We monitor daily for growth steps and milestones.  We introduce them to many scents, sounds, textures, feelings, situations, problem solving, kennel training, exposure to other dogs, other people, children and when weather permits… pond training… and so much more!

ARE THE PUPPIES UP-TO-DATE ON VACCINATIONS?

YES.  All puppies will come with their first set of vaccinations given at 6 weeks.  This is of course only the first of several vaccinations that your puppy will need over the course of the first few months of their lives.  They will also come with a vaccination schedule recommended by the American Kennel Club to help keep you on track.

DO YOU PROVIDE A HEALTH GUARANTEE AND CONTRACT?

YES.  Your puppy’s health guarantee covers one year from date of birth against any life-threatening genetic or hereditary disease or defect.  If you find that your puppy has a condition of some sort, please contact us ASAP to let us know.  Also, if you feel you can no longer care for the puppy, we ask that you return the puppy to us first.

WHEN CAN WE TAKE OUR PUPPY HOME?

8 WEEKS OLD.  Generally, we release puppies to their new homes right around 8 weeks old or so.  That is of course so long as their growth, weening, vet check, and other checks have gone well, and there are no adverse reasons we would have to keep the puppy longer.

CAN WE CONTACT YOU AFTER PICKING UP OUR PUPPY?

YES.  Absolutely, we welcome updates and pictures and questions, even continuing on after you take your puppy home.  You can contact us however is easiest for you, by email, phone, text, etc. anyway is fine.  We enjoy hearing all about the lives of the puppies we have raised, and will contact you as well to make sure things are going well.

WHAT REQUIREMENTS WE HAVE OF PEOPLE LOOKING TO PURCHASE ONE OF OUR PUPPIES?

Here at Muddy Creek Labradors, we are glad you have chosen to be a part of our family.  Our main goal is to ensure that every puppy we deliver and raise has a huge foundation in training and then goes to a family/home that will love and train the puppy with respect.  We suggest you have an initial vet visit to confirm your puppy has left our home healthy and happy.  We recommend periodic checkups, medical attention and care upon sickness, disease and/or injury.  In addition, we would be comforted to know that you provide adequate water, food, shelter, fenced yard and/or other means of adequate exercise (not to be kept on a chain or in a cage all the time), a collar to identify and to be kept by you, as the new owner for the entirety of the puppies life.

FINAL THOUGHTS

SOME SAY, THE MOST IMPORTANT DECISION YOU CAN MAKE IN PICKING YOUR NEW PUPPY, IS PICKING THE RIGHT BREEDER.  PLEASE BE DILIGENT IN YOUR SEARCH FOR YOUR PUPPY AND BREEDER, AND MAKE SURE THE BREEDER YOU PICK IS RESPONSIBLE, AND DOING THEIR ABSOLUTE BEST TO ENSURE THE HEALTH, SAFETY AND HAPPINESS OF NOT ONLY THE PUPPIES THEY RAISE, BUT THEIR OWN DOGS AS WELL.
